How-To: Reuse Old Birthday Cards
Here’s a quick project for our Green Birthday Guide that is so simple I’m almost embarrassed to share it.
Instead of throwing away the cards you get in the mail, turn them into postcards.
First cut off the top of the card, and toss the back in the recycling bin. We like to use a corner shaper from the craft store to round our corners.
Then stick on a stamp, and you have a whole new postcard ready to go.

I LOVE this idea Katie. Love it. AND I already have some to use – I have been keeping a stash of pretty cards in my desk – now I have a great use. So, please send me your real address and let’s hope the German mail system doesn’t fail us – you’ll have a gorgeous postcard on the way!

The corner punch is a great way of making cards look new. I have never thought of this. Thanks!

Great tip! I’ve never heard of a corner shaper, but now I’m intrigued. I’ll have to check them out the next time I’m at the craft store.

What a great idea, Katie! I send my sister a card every week or so, and I’m going to start doing this sometimes. I love this tip! :)

That’s a great idea. I usually keep old card fronts to use for craft projects (like making other cards), but I’ll have to try this too. This was appropriate for me today because it’s my birthday! I have plenty of cards to use. You know, AFTER my birthday.

Great idea! There are so many uses for cards. I love to get painting ideas from them and sometimes they are beautiful artwork to be framed. I love your idea of making them postcards, but I will have a hard time giving up my cards from friends and family. I have about a gazillion hat boxes filled with every card and letter every given to me! I am organized about it, but, definitely a pack rat. I also have every outfit and pair of shoes that my 3 boys ever wore! All nicely organized in the attic.

I should really do that, I keep all of my old cards but they just get stashed away. Fun idea!

Fabulous Blog! I’m participating in the UBP 2009. I am so sad it’s going to be over. Wish it could last forever! I’ll be stopping by again!

Hahaha…this is so funny — I just finally got around to doing this with the Christmas (!!) cards I tucked away. The ones with “less usable art space” were made into gift tags.

Never would’ve thought to do that. Great idea, Katie! :-)
