Being a Little Outdated (and Loving It)
I’m heading down South today, ya’ll. I haven’t been in the South since college, so an adventure to Blissdom for a blogging convention is feeling so very sentimental. Martin still teases me about the southern accent I picked up (and quickly lost)… which usually included me mentioning how “haaaawt” it was down there.

I still say “ya’ll” sometimes, too. High school kids will LAUGH at you for using words like that around here. I know; I used to laugh.
My down coat has kindly asked to stay behind. I guess…. Same goes for my wool coat, gloves, and long underwear. I guess…
You know what’s really cool about not buying new clothes for months and months? It’s pretty easy to figure out what clothes to bring. (I’m bringing what I have.) I hope I’m not totally out of fashion.

No scratch that. The last time I was in the South, I learned very quickly: in the rural Rocky Mountains, we kind of have no fashion. I’m still getting compliments around here for the tote I picked up back in college. That tote is coming to Blissdom, and something tells me I am going to be waaaaay behind on the times down there.
I can’t wait.

hee hee! I know you will be just fine! I have to say though, looking at some of these posts from the Alt conference…yeah, I feel like I’d need to get highlights and a whole new wardrobe to blend in, lol. But who cares about blending in? =P Have FUN and eat some grits for me! =)

Funny you should talk about this. I am not able to go this year due to $$ saving for our big move but… when I had briefly considered it last fall I thought “what will I wear” and “I wouldn’t fit in at all”. Let’s see I don’t “do” my hair, don’t wear make-up, my clothes are mostly thrifted (not the funky kind either) and outdoor gear. I’m kind of outdoors sporty in my look, if I have one. Very not-blissdom, very not-nashville.
So I wish you luck, good travels and a fun time! From one non-fashionista to another.

Ha. I had the worst time packing, and I guess that means i have too many clothes. I’m sure to have enough to share if you need anything! Can’t wait to meet you IRL!

What a beautiful suitcase! Has it made the transatlantic trip? It doesn’t look travel-worn in the least!

Although I’m usually good about just getting thrift store clothes in the past week I’ve bought TWO new sweaters. Going crazy over here! And it is funny but now I’m thinking, just with those new additions, that I should really go through my closet again….it is a constant battle for me to only get things I love and to think about the things I already have that I love in order to curb spending.
Have fun at the conference!

What a pretty suitcase! It’s economical not to buy new clothes. :) My husband’s from Texas and people always say he does not sound like someone from Texas. I’m Japanese, but I’m famililar with “y’all” and “fixin”. :)

Larissa – I’m pretty sure that suitcase didn’t go anywhere before it met me. I’ve been using it as a weekend bag, and already it’s getting the “used” look. It came from a thrift shop – $2! YEAH. ;)
