2011 : The Year of Organizing a Beautiful Life
2011 is for organizing a beautiful life.

Yes there are papers to be filed and a small stack ready for the thrift shop. There’s also so much more – like being open to opportunities that come through the year, bettering the people we are becoming, and celebrating moments. This year, I want to be more open to all these things. How about you?
The idea of an organized life has already sparked new things at our home. We’re figuring our our new roles in our home and community. We’re actually attempting to have our taxes ready before, oh, the last minute. And finally, I am going to learn to sew a zipper and patch the hole in Martin’s winter coat.
Yeah – part of organizing is organizing all those fears about patching that coat (it’s been duck taped since before I met Martin), and throwing them all out the window. A poorly patched coat has got to be better than a duck taped coat!
My 2010 was so much about wanting a decluttered home and life. Organizing a beautiful life just seems to flow into the next step.
So I’m going to open our doors to you and share this new journey.
Organizing isn’t about stressing. It’s eliminating unnecessary. It’s allowing time for what you love and the people you love. It’s taking care of the ordinary so you can celebrate the stories.
I’d love to hear what your thought is for your 2011. Any new year organizing you plan to dive into (or need to dive into?!)?

Sounds like a beautiful goal and theme for 2011, Katie!
All the best in the New Year!

I’m trying not to organize so much as eliminate. I’ve slowly been working on eliminating within our home, but it’s time to dig deeper. I’m tired of trying to continue to organize the same things, and all of the wasted time involved. I love to see empty spaces. May 2011 be your best year yet!

I think I need to focus n making better use of my time in the coming year. I often find myself trying to do too many projects at once, and the result feels as though I’m not being efficient. With that said, I’ll get off this computer for now, and back to work!

PS: Sewing zippers really isn’t so hard!

For 2011 I plan on taking the time to write the people I really care about cards with some favorite memory about them. There is no point in waiting till people are gone to say nice thing about them, I want to say nice things to them now while we can both share the memories=)

I love this idea. I might need to focus on organizing a beautiful home first, though! I’m looking forward to reading what you share, and making some progress of my own.

Katie, I am a professional organizer and am very impressed that you have realized the connecting link between being organized and living organized. You have worked this past year on being organized. You are now ready to live an organized life.

What a perfect follow-up to decluttering. I love it. And zippers? They’re not so bad. I actually enjoy sewing them. I’m not really sure why people get in such a dither over them. You’ll do great, Katie! If you can learn to fly a plane, I imagine a zipper should be small potatoes. If not, let me know, I’m in the same state, at least. I’d be happy to help you out. :-)
