Welcoming March
Are you ready for March? It’s certainly hit Europe with a big gust. I was quite certain I was going to be blown right into German class this morning like a little tumbleweed back in the United States. Winds have been gusting up to 90 miles an hour (145 km) in some areas south of Berlin.

I am excited for where March will take us. The snow is disappearing. Men in blue suits are scooping gravel off the sidewalks by the shovel-full. Sweepers are going up and down the streets, collecting all the crumbs the snow has been hiding all winter.
And we’re spending the night with boardgames – the perfect way to start a new month and prepare for changes and new seasons.

I am thinking less stuff, fewer commitments that lack heart, and more passion.
Where do you hope March takes you? Where are you marching on to this month? The thought of spring is so uplifting. A cleaned out garage? Fewer piles of paperwork? A special birthday cake? Piles of board games on the kitchen table? What are your ambitions this month? I love how inspiring the comments on this blog often are. Thank you for sharing your inspirations and in turn, inspiring so many of us. So really – what is it? Where are you marching off to?
Images of Settlers of Catan – the German version. Guys dig this game (even when a girl *me* somehow manages to beat them Every Single Time.)

Hi there!
I see clean, clean, clean and sparkling by the end of March. I am still purging like crazy and hope to scrub down what’s left by April 1. Happy almost spring!

My ambition this month (this week, actually) is to wrap up all the finishing touches on my new apartment and post a ‘home tour’ on my blog :)
I also plan to enjoy March Madness as much as possible, given that my team has totally tanked this year and probably won’t even make the tournament.
Your Settlers game is so much more detailed than mine – the US version. I love your robber!!

We were almost blown away too! Wasn’t that crazy? My poor little dog weighs 4 lbs and he could barely go out to go potty. March certainly came in like a lion.
I’m so looking forward to Germany awakening from the long winter. It’s such a beautiful time of the year. I have no specific goals for the month other than to start packing away the heavy winter clothes and pulling out the lighter clothes. We do have our anniversary this month (15 years!) and my birthday is at the end of the month. Yay! March is my favorite month.

I love the game you played :-). Sometimes we spend, together with our friends whole nights playing this…well March will first bring me to some warm islands for a week and after it, I hope for some good news…and I hope to finish tax report and to have yes less paper clutter and to repair kitchen tap, renovate living room walls (more cats friendly)…

March is going to bring Easter holidays and a most needed trip to my birth town in Crete. I’ve missed my parents and sister and nieces so much, I can’t wait!

oh my word – that wind was INSANE here! fallen trees, etc.
all night I kept thinking about the ‘sick’ tree in the backyard and hoping it didn’t fall on our bedroom…we woke with an intact home, thankfully!
ah yes, March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb, even in Germany! =P

Katie,
March is like my reality check as so much will be going on. For one it now means less than 50 days untill my wife and kids leave for Berlin. I am both excited for them and a little sad for me. I know once they leave I will not see them again until August when I visit the first time. They already have the airline tickets bought so that is taken care of, and this weekend I will be signing the contract on the apartment I will be moving into once they leave. Other things this month, my oldest daughter that still lives in Kansas is getting married this month on the 20th so we will be driving to Kansas for that. It is also my wife and I’s aniversary this month and we are going to Vegas the last wekend this month. We have also been going through all our possesions and deciding what we are going to ship, what we are going to try and sell on craigslist, and what we are going to put in a garage sell we are going to have in the begining of April. As you can see it is going to be a very hectic month and I have a feeling it is going to fly by.

Is that really the robber in the German version of Settlers? Way cool!
Big plans for March? Arrival in Berlin! Wahoo!

Yes! I am in a clearing frenzy and finding various outlets for my move-alongs! If we can sell some of the items it is going toward a family outing…

That’s funny. I am REALLY BAD at that game, to the point where it’s kind of ridiculous. My husband, though, is amazing at it. You two should get together some time.

Isn’t the little robber in the German version so much fun compared to the little black peg in the US version? I love the little people. It doesn’t feel so evil when they land on your best space!

We LOVE Settlers! We recently bought the Cities & Knights expansion and are having a blast with it. How funny that your robber is so different. :-)

My whole family enjoys playing Settlers. I love how unique your version is. I guess I assumed everyone’s would like alike.
