The Less You Need, the Freer You Become
Repeat that to yourself often.
On the days you’re frustrated with all the stuff in your house and your life, remember this.
When you start comparing your home to all the pretty pictures in magazines and on the internet, don’t let them get you down.
It’s okay to desire things occasionally, and it’s really hard to part with the things we have.
We’re spending our last weekend in the US near the lake above. It’s such a bittersweet thing – saying goodbye to family and summer and country life while anticipating autumn in Berlin. It’s moments like these when I truly understand how the simple things in life are what make living so worth it.
What are your plans this weekend? I hope it’s beautiful (and less tearful than mine). Don’t you hate goodbyes? Have a beautiful weekend, friends.

What a great saying, I’m going to put that one up on the fridge. We are having a tearful goodbye weekend, my brother-in-law, his wife & my neice are moving away this weekend & we -might- only get to see them at Christmas, sniff ,sniff. At least we will still be in the same country can’t imagine moving to the other side of the world.

Goodbyes are the worst. I hope that you enjoy the time you have left in the US, and that you have smooth and happy travels on your way back to Berlin.
As for me, I have very little in the way of plans this weekend. I’m saving my travels for a week from now when everyone’s back home and the beaches and roads are less crowded. It’s the last year I can do this, since next year I will have a kindergartner and fall into the rhythm of the school year.

I haven’t been back to the US since we moved to Belgium, but I think going back, and then saying bye after a short trip there will be hard whenever we go. Have a safe trip back to Germany. As for my weekend, yesterday we went to the Brussels Beer Festival and today we rode bikes to the local market.

just think of all the cheap and good chocolate you’ll get, croissants too! and your aunt and uncle moving there (free for you, not for them, eep!)

Katie I hope you had a wonderful weekend! I’m sad that you’re leaving us too – but can’t to hear and see all about your life in Berlin again soon! xoxo
