Jenna, I'd recommend Soleo Organics Sunscreen. It has been rated the safest most effective sunscreen by the Environmental Working Group (EWG), and awarded the 2009 Product Merit Award by the Nutrition Business Journal.

Any soap makes our skin very dry. Any. Olive or not. I try to live soap-free.

Hi Jenna, saffronrouge.com carries all organic products including sunscreen. Soleo sunscreen gets the best rating on the " Skindeep" data base, it's rated at a 0 for toxicity. I REALLY want to try that sunscreen but I'm useing up "Earth's best by Jason" first, it leaves my skin fairly white & the "Soleo" one is not supposed to. Hope that helps:-)

I use "Say Yes to Cucumber" moisturizer and I love it. The best part about it? I recognize and understand all of the ingredients! I'm still looking for an eco friendly/animal friendly sun screen. If you have any suggestions I would love to hear them.

I'm just beginning the switch to being shampoo free - baking soda and water to wash, apple cider vinegar diluted in water to rinse. I'm off to the library today to check out that book, sounds fascinating!

I use one bar of soap for my body and face. It's usually this soap, but word got out about my addiction to handmade soaps, and people gave me a whole bunch as gifts. So I've been using those up too. However, my skin loves the soap in that link.

I also switched to a mixture of baking soda and cornstarch for deodorant, which seems to work well -- or at least no one has run screaming from me. I've been experimenting with the no 'poo routine for my hair, but as it's crazy and curly, it doesn't seem to like that. Yet. Maybe I'll just cut it off and be done.

David at The Good Human posted a guide to finding sunscreen the other day. Worth checking out?
