Driving Through the Rocky Mountains
Ever since I took this picture of a deserted pathway full of autumn leaves in Berlin, I’ve been enamored by the simple beauty of empty roads. Of course, it was pretty much impossible to find an empty street in Germany’s capital city ever again. So I waited.
Fast forward to today. We’re in the middle of the Rocky Mountains region of the US, and it’s a whole new world. Opportunities to snap pictures of empty roads abound. We’re almost forgetting what real traffic is like (which isn’t something you’ll find me complaining about!). Want to see some of the things we see?
I don’t know why; looking at these pictures just relaxes me. I think it’s the lack of go, go, go.
For most of these, I’ve set the camera on the dashboard, pressed the button, and hoped for the best. (Please assure my mom that someone else was probably driving.)
Thinking you’d like a few more scenic shots? Check out our aerial flight over Arches National Park or bike tour of Berlin.

I love that last shot. It makes me think that something great is waiting right around the bend. :)

Very nice. Your windshield is verrrrrrrrrrrry clean for driving along the highway!

Very, very peaceful, Katie. The green grass and the blue sky – so lovely!

haha! I find myself singing that John Denver song, “Country Roads.”
PJ, I don’t know how those shots came up so clear! Maybe the bugs flee when they see us barreling through?
