A trick I've picked up is when you're going through your stuff with the intention of getting rid of it and you just can't seem to toss it or donate or whatever, put it under your bed and take it out about a month later. It'll probably be easier to toss.

(I've found it best to choose to go through it on a random day and NOT on another day of cleaning with the intentions of getting rid of stuff because it seems to bring the sentimental feelings back)
Hope this helps! :)

What about making something like a Memory of Things book? Take a photo of the thing and paste it on one page, then on the page next to it, write about the item - who gave it to you, the memories around it and them, etc. Then you'll just have a book full of stories instead of a house full of things! Sounds kinda fun too, right?? I'm going to make one because I have a HUGE problem with keeping junk because it's sentimental! Wish me luck.

I never knew what to do with the "sentimental objects" cluttering my life. I can't seem to part with them, but I agree with you that dusting can become rather tedious in the long run. Thanks for the idea.

I am all about de-cluttering --- although it is much easier to do with other peoples things rather than your own treasures. I do love your photo idea. My mother-in-law is just moving to a smaller place and having to decide what to keep and what to let go. I will pass on the info.
Thanks.

What a great idea. However, I still am having a hard time decluttering. I will have to give this idea a try with some little things first :)
I just found your blog while blog hopping.

I LOVE the idea of not dusting. My house sometimes feel like it's getting overly-cluttered, so this is a great tip.
