Greeting Country Visitors
You know, we’d probably be unpacked and ready to give you a tour of this Tire House if I weren’t spending so much time hanging out with the neighbors.
In fact, we’re spending the American holiday weekend back in the United States by getting to know all the neighbors – some of them panic and run away when we stop to say hello (like this guy). Others stay for a bite to eat (pizza and green weeds both abound!).
How did you celebrate – or if you’re in the US, how are you still celebrating – the weekend? Hope it included everything you wanted to do and enjoy. Those are the best weekends, no matter how long. Wouldn’t you agree? We’ll see you tomorrow. Yes, that includes you little deer friend.

we enjoyed our long weekend painting our new apartment and getting to know our neighbors – a super sweet older German couple who are very un-German in their friendliness! Although the painting was a LOT of work, and unfortunately we’re not super loving the end results (a weensy bright, a weensy minty), we had a great time working together on a project. We have good conversations when we work together, so that’s worth it in and of itself! =)

Thanks Katie! I was just thinking about deer. We don’t see any of them in Chicago. Oddly, that makes me miss them. Just today, I blogged about the differences between Montana and Chicago. Lack of deer in Chicago was one of my four main differences.
Unfortunately, my weekend has been filled with homework, but we did make time to watch the season finale of Dancing with the Stars.

We’ve all lost people to war here and both my husband and I served in the Armed Forces. Much thought and prayer goes into the day…and then the lawn gets mowed and the floor tile gets grouted and the laundry gets done and the animals get fed…….. :)

We spent the weekend at the beach with my parents. Lots of eating out and lazing on the deck and playing with Dublin in the bay. Super fun. What a great photo – I can’t believe how close that deer gets to your house! Wow!
Hope you have a great weekend!

Congrats on meeting your neighbors in Germany, Juliette. That sounds like such a dorky thing for me to say, but it’s oh so true. Germans are wonderful people… it’s just tough to get to know them and break that initial bubble.
Christy, I’m going to the beach with you next time!
