I drag my cloth shopping bags to mall and just smile and say "Let's save a tree." Most people are ok with it. I love this post.

Hi Katie :)

I use all the stuff that comes with the clothes and shoes from the mall for toting food for picnics and potlucks and the boxes make great storage containers. The tissue comes in handy every Christmas. Oh and I can't stand people that wait an hour for a space in front ... ugh.

Great tips! I often refuse a bag for things that it's not necessary for. I am finding more often that the store clerks will ask if I want a bag. I think that is a great step forward!

Great post!! I'm totally with you on all four points. Why do clothing stores bother wrapping clothing in tissue paper?? So what if it looks pretty -- it's in a bag, you can't even see it!! And then like you said, you get home and the tissue paper gets pulled off the tossed away. Say NO to tissue paper!!

I have to admit that I do like the plastic bags you get at grocery stores. We have three dogs, the bags come in handy!! But now a lot of stores are charging 5 cents/bag or have eliminated them altogether, so I'm going to have to remember to start bringing my own bags. Which is better for the environment anyway.

I'll never understand why people circle the parking lot for a spot close to the doors, and then they'll proceed to walk from one end of the mall to the other.

When you buy a whole pizza, it comes in a recyclable cardboard box. So I say, why buy one slice that comes on a styrofoam plate when you can buy a whole pizza in a box?! I'm sure the fact that you're doing something better for the environment will counteract all those extra calories :-)

It's been a while since I've been to an actual mall, but I like the idea of taking my own bags. I do have reusable ones for the grocery store. I've always hated driving around endlessly looking for parking spaces and it's always less crowded in the back, further away. I like to think it saves me some time since I'm already shopping by the time some people find the "perfect" spot. I definitely do that here in Germany since my car doesn't fit well in the tiny parking spaces. It's easier to park away from the crowd and I get a little extra exercise.
