All I Have to Say About Work Is…
You’d be hard pressed to find a house that’s bustling more than ours, I’m happy to report.
I’m applying the final coats of varnish on some shelves like a mad woman…

And Martin’s… well he says he’s working on the baseboard, though it’s very possible he’s passed out from exhaustion.

Varnishing and painting are my all-time favorite home projects. We turn on our favorite music, and I lose myself. It’s rather embarrassing. I finally have the courage to answer the phone when Germans call us, and I don’t even notice the phone ringing on the other side of the tarp. It’s nice when simple work can take you away from everything. So if you don’t hear much from me, this may be why.

That is looking so good! I’m glad you are getting more bold and testing out your German! That’s great!!

Katie, your kitchen is looking great! Keep it up! Someday you will be finished and can sit back and enjoy the benefits of your hard work.
I’m still too chicken to answer the phone when a Spaniard calls. :)

I just checked out your favorite music and I like it very much. I had never heard of Pink Martini but I am a new fan!

WOW! It’s looking great! Poor Martin. He does look like he might be passed out. I was at IKEA today (shocking, I know-Me? At IKEA? Get out!) and they have a 35sqmeter apartment set up in one of their displays and I commend the two of you for living in such close quarters. Dh and I would kill each other.

Congrats on being able the answer phone in German – that’s great! Hope you had fun painting – I actually enjoy that, and staining wood too. I think it has to do with immediate gratification!

I can’t wait to see the completed project. I remember visiting when you were just getting started.
