Wearing Winter Clothes – A Children’s Poem

Our first snow is falling in Berlin.  Maybe you have already gotten yours?  The bicyclists are trying to maneuver with umbrellas in their hands.  And I feel anxious to bundle into an enormous scarf and thick mittens and feel snow in my eyelashes.  Interesting news on greener wrapping paper to come as well, so my fingers are crossed that you can hang on just a bit while I visit the snow.  For now, a nonsense poem for all of you…

WEARING WINTER CLOTHES

A hat on your round head
and shoes on your flat feet
will keep your body warm
and hold your body heat.

But it does not mean
no clothes on in between.
I think that going naked
would create quite the scene.

What a cute little poem! And coincidentally, we are having our very first snow of the season here in New Jersey this morning! I woke up and looked outside and starting singing a new nonsense song to my daughter about how this is her very first snowfall! Hurrah! And, bicyclists with umbrellas? Wow – I don’t think I would ever dare to try that! I would crash for sure!

Yup, snow has been in and out of here for about a week now. I took out my heavy-duty winter coat and boots. It’s time to snuggle under the blanket :o) Have a great weekend, Katie!

Hi Katie. Thanks for stopping by I am going to have to put you link in my side bar. So I can keep up with you too. My daughter has had so much happen to her in the last 2 months that I am guilty of not keeping up with every one. I very much like your blog too. I can only dream of visiting or living in another country so if you don’t mind. I can see what it like through your blog. Have a great weekend.

I came across your blog a couple of weeks ago as I was doing some research before moving back to Berlin. I lived there in 2001/2002 before college and loved it and miss it still, especially when blogs like yours remind me of everyday life there! Living in sunny San Diego I may be the only one wishing for snow right now, bit reading your blog makes we want to be right there in Berlin.
