Results Are In - Our Walls are Looking Hot!

You came.  You voted.  And oh, about ten minutes before quiet hours kicked in at our apartment, we tallied your votes for which painting to hang above our couch, and we started drilling.

I used to be partial to hanging the Prague cityscape; half of you agreed.

Martin began watching for your votes like an airport traffic controller keeping an eye on the planes entering his air space.  Nothing got past him without deep thought.  He was so excited as I finished painting the frames!  And you didn’t make it easy for him because obviously, if half of you voted for the cityscape…

the other half voted for Charles Bridge.

It made us feel like the Bush/Gore elections all over again, except thankfully, picking one painting or another wasn’t such a big deal (and we had room for both in this house).

So enough of my chatter.  Here’s what we did with your beautiful help:

Charles Bridge above the couch

Prague Cityscape above the table and four steps from the couch

So what do you think?  We think you’re all awesome.  But that’s just us, and we’ve always thought that.  ;)

Gorgeous. Love the throw blanket and the pillows on the couch too. And the frames on both came out very nicely. Just love european home decor. Only a little over a week until your Thanksgiving dinner party and you can show off all your hard work!

It looks awesome! The other day I went through pages and pages of your blog, and I have to tell you I am in awe of your clean and simplistic approach to this “new life”. I always have this need to have “stuff” in my house, and I love watching how you do it. The kitchen is coming along beautifully! I love how you went with the really tall cabinets. It elongates that space! You have a new fan of your blog! :)

I like your decision even more now that I see where you put the cityscape painting. The red runner you have on the table really picks up the red roofs in the painting. Great job!

    Hi Katie,
I didn’t vote for where your pictures should hang. I just found you, but I like where they are. They look really nice there. Love those pillows on the couch. Thanks for stopping by my place. Come by any time. Take Care!!

I wasn’t here for the vote..but it looks like the perfect choice was made! That’s how I would have done it lol. I’m still laughing about your “pie eating hubby” comment. I think that’s a marvelous way to pick a winner lol. I am so glad you stopped in to visit my blog!

Yay I won. *L* And I think it looks great - especially hanging the other over the table because the red runner makes the red rooftops pop. :) I say great job.

I love the way this turned out. The red table runner looks great with the Prague picture
and the couch blends and compliments the bridge picture.
I love it when a plan comes together.

Your walls are really looking hot. Hot chocolate. :) The choices are great. And, indeed, painting the frames in white changed in better the whole aspect of the style. It is more fresh now :) Good job, Katie and Martin :)

    Dear all,

Thank you for your too-kind comments. I am still laughing at Vica’s description of my walls being “hot chocolate”. Too funny! And the more I think about it, the more I realize how European my house really is looking… despite every European saying it looks too American. haha
