If Walls Could Talk…
…ours would probably be sneezing from all the sawdust. They might also be wondering if they get to look a little dressed up for our Thanksgiving party.
The problem is that we don’t know what our pale yellow and brown walls should wear to the party. We have two fantastic paintings of Prague. They’re nothing fancy; Prague is a top destination for street artists, and you can literally see well over a hundred people selling paintings in one day. But we love ours to death.
The frames will be white. They’re a little outdated and banged up, so I am attacking them with wood putty and white paint to make them consistent with our long-term plans for the space.
Now we’re paralyzed with total indecision. Maybe you can help us pick which painting to put above our yellow couch…
The contestants are:
1. Prague Cityscape with Prague Castle in the Background
2. Charles Bridge Connecting the Prague Castle and Old Town
So what do you think? Leave a comment and let us know your pick. We’ll post the after photo as soon as the painting goes up.

I love the 1st one, the buildings cream walls seem to go with the lounge better.
Both are great paintings.
I can not wait to see the new kitchen!
I have never seen such a small enclosed kitchen before.
I have a friend that has also just moved to Germany, http://cyberbones.blogspot.com/.
I am enjoying reading about your experiences over there!

I also like the first one better…but either of them is nice.
Hope you’re still liking the color of the walls…it looks great from here! :)
Planning to start posting some of my Turkey Day recipes today if I can make myself sit down long enough to get organized…

I love them both, but I think the second one looks great above the couch for a couple of reasons. Blue and brown look really good together – and they’re ‘hot’ colors right now. And the sofa brings out the yellow tons of the architecture. Now I’m going to read the other comments…Okay, so I have a differing opinion! Hope others weigh in for you too. I don’t think you can go wrong either way! I love the wall color – in an old apartment (where we lived 3 places ago!) I painted our dining room a similar color.

I’m all up for the first one – size wise and color wise – fitting better above that pretty couchie of yours:o)
November 13th, 2008 at 6:57 pm
I like the 1st one slightly better, the roofs seem to match your wall color. But why not put them both up?
November 13th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
Definitely the first one.

#2 the building off to the left in the photo picks up the couch color perfectly. That’s my vote. :)
November 13th, 2008 at 9:56 pm
Ohlala! I feel like an art critic :) I like the second one, because that blue color lightens up the strong color on the wall. It is like a window over your couch too, your window to Prague.. You should work a little bit on the frame, but if you say that it will go in white, I think it will look very beautiful.
And I have asked Ion too (before telling my decision) and he voted for the second one too, so 2 points from us for “Charles Bridge Connecting the Prague Castle and Old Town” painting.

Hi Katie…just stopping in for a quick visit…Okay, I love both but if I can only choose one…make it #2…there’s something about the water… Hugs, ;-) Bo

Oooh, this is tough because I really like both of them. I’m going to go with #2 because it’s lighter in color and will show up better against the brown wall. But, I’m sure you have plenty of wall space for the other one, right?
November 13th, 2008 at 11:44 pm
I like them both, but my vote is for #1. It’s a simpler composition, and it’s a bit larger than the 2nd one. I do love the frame on the 2nd one, though

I kind of like the second one, it makes it look like that is the “real” view out of your window….The other one – although very beautiful – makes your room look smaller.

#1. The white matte helps bring some color out. You’ve got a neutral wall with a muted tone prints. Without a pop of color, the painting might disappear into the wall color.

I love the paintings. I think both of them should be hung in that space. This is a fun question.
Hugs…Janne

Love them both! So you’e been to Prague! Our daughter and her husband honeymooned there! It is such an amazingly beautiful city! Your artwork in penomenal. Why not hand them sidebyside over each half of the sofa. That’s what I’d do!
November 14th, 2008 at 6:24 pm
I vote for #1! Color, size, shape – it definitely looks the best over the couch.
November 14th, 2008 at 6:45 pm
I pick #2. But either one is nice:)

I like the first one. They are both great…but I prefer the first…since you asked!!

Charles Bridge is my personal choice, mostly because of the beautiful frame. It adds a richness and contrast compared to the other print.
November 14th, 2008 at 7:34 pm
I love the 2nd one best. I like how the building off to the left brings out the color of your couch. Plus the bridge makes me think there must be a pretty view in sight. :o)
November 14th, 2008 at 7:53 pm
I vote for # 1. The colors just bring out the wall and look great on it. The objects are bigger and seen better, too.
November 14th, 2008 at 9:02 pm
I like the first one the best. It is larger and appears to have a light color in it close to the couch color. Jean
November 14th, 2008 at 9:03 pm
Hard decision, both are great! But I think the city scape.
November 15th, 2008 at 4:35 pm
I like number one, too!
November 15th, 2008 at 11:15 pm
Okay, Katie. The first one matches everything, but doesn’t add” too much. (Not necessarily a bad thing, you have to decide if you want to “add” anything.) It makes the room feel richer, warmer. The second adds a cheery note with the blue. I would go with the second, but either one looks great! Will it be up tomorrow for our dinner?
November 15th, 2008 at 11:16 pm
Oh, yeah. Plus, the second one has those nice wisps of happy yellow.
November 16th, 2008 at 9:30 am
Oh, I like both! But my favorite and my pick would be the first one. Like another commenter said, the objects are bigger and more visible. I think it adds more interest. Can’t wait to see the paintings up!
November 17th, 2008 at 6:13 am
I like the 2nd one because of the blue colors and the yellow building.
You can’t go wrong with either one.
November 17th, 2008 at 7:26 pm
I love those, but in that place, I like the first one better! I like how everything is coming together.
